Germany - Hunas
This excavation in a Middle Pleistocene (Riß) cave ruin located in the
beautiful Franconian Forests is carried out by the Institute for Prehistory
of the University Erlangen-Nürnberg. In such a archelogical-paleontological
cave site you can find man-made stone tools and rubbish, bones and teeth of
big and small vertebrates, gastropod shells and charcoal.
Every year the diggin campain starts in June / July and ends in September /
October. You will work 38.5 hour per week and even get paid for your help: approximately
5.70 EURO per hour! You also get accomodation for free: in cottages or a container
on the digging site or just pitch your own tent somewhere around. There is a
small kitchen available where you can cook your own food.
